What is WinBidPro v15?

WinBidPro v15 is the third major Microsoft Windows release of the GDS Storefront Estimating System. Prior to this it was an MS-DOS program, and prior to that a CPM program!

WinBidPro is an entirely new program that keeps the same philosophy and concepts that GDS has always believed in. Our software has always been easy to learn, easy to understand and use, very flexible in terms of adding and changing information, and WinBidPro is no different. What has changed is its ability to handle larger, more complicated jobs, and newer, more complicated architectural systems. The architectural glass industry is evolving, so we must evolve with it!

Does the WinBidPro upgrade Cost Extra?

NO! As a licensed subscriber to GDS software, you are able to download this new v15 software at no additional cost. Your existing license will work with both programs. Of course new customers will need to purchase a subscription.

Installing this new program will add a new folder and icons to your computer. WinBidPro does not change your older v14 software in any way, so you will be able to use both programs on the same computer. You can import your catalogs from v14 via an Import Utility icon on your desktop. Many customers have spent a lot of time and effort modifying and updating their vendor catalogs, so all of this information can be brought into v15. We have have some new catalogs that have been specifically configured for this program. More catalogs will be added as go. The v15 specific catalogs are all inclusive with full price lists, extensive lists of framings systems, doors, and door frames, and detail drawings.

Since the new software is so different in how it deals with jobs and catalog information, it is not possible to import jobs from v14. However, since you can keep both programs on your computer, we suggest you leave v14 on your computer for a while so that you can access any old jobs when needed.

What's New with WinBidPro v15?
  • Fixes in v15.1.5
    - Corrected a problem created when the sort codes for elevations in a job get out of order. You can now change the sort codes in the Elevations window if you want to change the order of the elevations.
    - Fixed Lineal Parts Report to round up to the nearest foot for all stock length parts.
    - Corrected a problem where adding a multiple for a part number in the framing system window (ie. a *2 after the part number) was applying that quantity to other parts in the same column
    - Fixed problem where Horizontal vinyl wasn't getting calculated when alternate horizontals were being used
  • Fixes and Additions in v15.1.4
    - Fixed problem with door jambs with a sub-frame entrance and no alternate verticals
    - Fixed error with Final Summary report. An error would occur when opening sometimes
    - Fixed a problem with imported jobs from previous version where final glass report was bloating glass quantities. The cause of this problem was fixed in the .3 update, but now the glass phantom glass won't show up in the report even if it is in the database
    - Added Job Area and Perimeter columns to Elevations list (you will need to skip through each drawing in a job created in earlier versions in to correct the total Area and Perimeter in the Final Summary and Markup reports)
    - Moved Edit Date field in Jobs list next to the Bid Date column.
  • Fixes and Additions to v15.1.3
    - Fixed bug when copying a job to a new job and to a new vendor. The glass was not showing up in the new job's elevations, but it would show up in the Final Glass Report
    - Face caps are now cut between jambs instead of wall to wall
    - Spliced vertical members do not affected the number of "per vertical" parts for a framing system
    - Scaled drawing printouts should now be true to scale. Be sure to click "Restore Defaults" in the Drawing Settings window to reset the scale factors. Print button in Toolbar on drawing window will print with "Fit to Page" scaling unless you change it
    - "Per Horizontal 2" and "Per Horiz 3 & 4" part fields have been added to the Misc tab of the Framing System Parts window
    - Alternate Verticals parts will now show up for alternate door jambs in a sub-frame entrance
    - Impact Glazing was added to glazing labor and Impact was added to the Frame Type for labor. Be sure to check defaults for this new category when using it for labor
    - When using Lineal Foot parts report in the Optimizer, the total for this report will now be added to the Final Summary and Markup reports
    - Perimeter feet and Area value were corrected in the Markup Report printout
    - Fixed a problem with Splits in the transom above a sub-frame door
    - Program will go to the Layout tab when switching jobs and vendors, regardless of the tab you were on when you switched
    - Fixed Minimum Square Foot calculation in Final Glass Report
    - Fixed glass sizes when a Rake that is low on the left side and high on the right is used
    - Added "Tip" button to Framing System Parts window, and Drawing Settings window
    - Fixed bug in the "Job and Elevation Settings" tab of the Frame Labor Hours and Rates window. The Glazing Labor will now update when changing elevations with the arrow control on the first tab
    - Fixed Filter Bar in Final Glass Report window. Not when this stopped working

  • Fixes and Additions to v15.1.2
    - Corrected problem where getting parts in the optimizer would generated an error with certain parts in certain vendor catalogs
    - Fixed error when editing parts in the parts list, and when clicking the Edit button and saving changes.
    - Added filter bar feature and Clear Filters buttons to the Copy To Vendor window, accessible through the Jobs window.
    - Added confirmation when the Copy button is clicked in the Jobs window
    - Fixed Glass Thickness sort option in the Framing Systems window
    - Fixed a potential problem where certain drawing components in selected panels will conflict with each other
    - Fixed problem where manually added glass in the Final Glass report was not showing up after closing and opening that report

  • Fixes in v15.1.1
    - Fixed area and perimeter figures in Final Summary Report.
    - Fixed export to GTS files to round dollar figures to nearest penny.
  • Fixes and updates in v15.1
    - Problems with multiple users seeing other user's elevations should be gone
    - Errors when closing the program should be gone
    - Problem with extra parts in the Optimizer Cuts window should be fixed
    - When exiting the program, the vendor database will compact as it should
    - The job list when first opening the program will limit your options to prevent crashing and other problems
    - Editing consecutive frames, door frames, and doors from the master lists works better after opening the parts list while in the respective parts windows. Doesn't require closing and re-opening list
    - Moved Compress and Send buttons to a Tools list in the Vendors window. These are really only needed when GDS tech support asks you to use them.

Refer to the instructions below to use the Import Utility to import catalogs from the v14.1 program. This is optional since there is a full assortment of catalogs in the WinBidPro Download page.
