WinBidPro v15 Vendor Notes

The new WinBidPro software has many new features and many new configuration settings for framing systems, doors, and door frames. Catalogs that were updated for the v15 software have been configured to fully utilize these new features and capabilities. With these catalogs in v15, you are able to easily quote more complicated curtain wall and impact systems than you ever could in the older v14 software. In addition, doors and entrances can be drawn with true proportions and dimensions, thus allowing for accurate door glass sizes, and even optimized stock lengths for door leafs if you fabricate your own doors.

Know the settings in a given vendor

We highly recommend that you become familiar with all of the Framing System, Door, and Door Frame settings in the WinBidPro software so that you can fully utilize its power. The vendor catalogs used in the WinBidPro software were not configured by the manufacturers themselves, and in many cases were not even reviewed by the manufacturers. You must assume the responsibility of checking the information in these catalogs before deeming them reliable. Settings for trimming vertical material, the use of sill flashing, and system profiles will all affect the outcome of optimized material for a job. Understanding and reviewing these settings before creating bids, is highly recommended!

Know how glass sizes are calculated

Glass sizes can be calculated and priced for any job you create, but you must understand and review what settings in the WinBidPro software affect these sizes before you ever consider ordering glass from this program. With the proper elevation layout and drawings, and the correct add to the height and width of glass in a given framing system, you will be able to create accurate glass reports for ordering this type of material.

Vendor Catalogs are just the beginning

The vendor catalogs in the WinBidPro software are just a starting point for what you use in this program. In order to keep the catalogs efficient and manageable to all users, GDS does not add every system, and every entrance possible from a given manufacturer. We try to stick with the most common and systems and entrances offered by that manufacturer. The WinBidPro software is designed to work with any manufacturer's systems in the commercial glass industry. As a result, it is highly flexible and greatly adaptable to the many types of products that these companies offer. We encourage our customers to learn how to add and edit systems in a manufacturer's catalog because this is where the true power of the software lies. Once you become proficient at doing this, you will see that the possibilities are almost endless in how you can use this software to safe you time and make you money.
